mplayer has audio sync issues

Hello,

I've been experimenting with the various distros for the Renegade and found a way to get the hardware VPU working under the ubuntu-18.04.1-server-arm64.iso image. I'm seeing mplayer 1.3.0 process h264 videos but the audio cuts out and is always out of sync. I've tried changing -ao and other switches but it doesn't solve the problem. Any ideas?
