Quality of analog audio out?

I decided not to use a Pi 3 for a project because I need best possible analog audio out, and the Pi 3 has a very primitive DAC so not good.

But what about the Libre Computer boards? Do they use a "real" DAC chip?

@andyi If you need high quality analog out, you should get a dedicated DAC with I2S interface. Digital > Analog.

@iiw Audio for GXL (S805X, S905X, S905D, S912) is not upstream yet. It works in the vendor SDK but we don't support non-upstream stuff. So as of current, you will need to match the pinout and hook up some vendor's DAC that is compatible. By hooking up, we mean running wires to remap the pins. You will also have to know the vendor SDK to make modifications to it. The plan is to have audio upstreamed before the end of the year.
